Eligibility Criteria and Educational Qualification
- For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy:
- Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
- For Indian Naval Academy:
- Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
- For Air Force Academy:
- Degree from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering
Selection Process
The selection process for CDS comprises three stages:
- Written Exam: A three-paper exam consisting of English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics (for IMA, OTA, and INA only).
- Physical Test: A comprehensive physical fitness assessment for shortlisted candidates.
- Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview: A rigorous personality and leadership assessment conducted by the SSB

- Register yourself for One Time Registration (OTR) and fill out Part-1 of the application form.
- Complete Part-2 of the form with specific details for CDS 1 2024 and pay the application fee.
UPSC CDS 2024– Exams Syllabus
- General Knowledge: This paper tests your awareness of current affairs, history, geography, polity, and science.
- English: Assess your language skills through comprehension, precis writing, and essay writing.
- Mathematics: For IMA and OTA aspirants, this paper tests your mathematical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- General Ability Test (INA): This paper assesses your reasoning and analytical abilities, along with basic knowledge of Science and English.

Age Limit
- For IMA—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1s January, 2006 only are eligible.
- For Indian Naval Academy—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2006 only are eligible.
- For Air Force Academy— 20 to 24 years as on 1st January, 2025 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January,2001 and not later than 1st January, 2005 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1999 and not later than 1st January, 2005 only are eligible.
Application Fee
- Rs. 200 for all categories except SC/ST candidates and females (exempt from fee payment)
- Payment can be made through online or offline modes (net banking, Mastercard/debit card, cash deposit in SBI bank)
