Tata Motors Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability with Fifth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility near Delhi

Tata Motors, India’s leading automaker, has taken a significant step towards sustainable vehicle disposal with the inauguration of its fifth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) near Delhi. Christened Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect), the facility embodies the company’s vision of establishing at least one such unit in every Indian state.

This state-of-the-art facility boasts a processing capacity of 18,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, catering to both passenger and commercial vehicles across all brands. The eco-friendly dismantling process prioritizes responsible disposal and adherence to the government’s vehicle scrappage policy.

Sustainable Practices at the Forefront

“The launch of our fifth scrapping facility marks a major milestone in making sustainable practices and responsible vehicle disposal more accessible,” remarked Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors. He elaborated on how this facility aligns with the company’s vision of a circular economy, where value is extracted from used materials. This initiative also complements the government’s push for eco-friendly automotive practices, paving the way for a cleaner future.

Advanced Technology for Responsible Dismantling

Developed collaboratively with Johar Motors, the RVSF leverages complete digitization for efficient operations. Dedicated dismantling areas cater specifically to commercial and passenger vehicles, ensuring a meticulous process tailored to each category. Additionally, the facility features specialized stations for the safe handling of various components like tires, batteries, fluids, and gases.

A Meticulous Process for Maximum Safety

Each vehicle undergoes rigorous documentation and dismantling procedures that meet the specific requirements of passenger and commercial vehicles. Tata Motors emphasizes that the process prioritizes meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing the safe disposal of all components in accordance with the vehicle scrappage policy.

Expanding Nationwide Network

With the addition of the Delhi facility, Tata Motors now boasts a network of Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, and Chandigarh. This growing network reinforces the company’s commitment to establishing a nationwide infrastructure for sustainable vehicle disposal.

Celebrating a Production Milestone

Earlier in March, Tata Motors celebrated another significant achievement – the roll-out of the 10,00,000th vehicle from its cutting-edge Sanand plant in Gujarat. The milestone vehicle was the popular Tata Tiago hatchback. This accomplishment comes just two months after the inauguration of the Sanand facility, which currently manufactures a diverse range of vehicles including the Tiago, Tiago AMT, Tiago EV (with recent feature upgrades), Tiago iCNG, Tigor, Tigor AMT, Tigor EV, Tigor iCNG, and the XPRES-T EV for fleet operators.

By prioritizing sustainable practices throughout its operations, Tata Motors is setting a commendable example for the Indian automotive industry. The inauguration of the fifth RVSF and the production milestone at Sanand plant collectively showcase the company’s commitment to a greener future.
