Calling All Creators: Design the Next Nothing Phone with the Community Edition Project

In a unique move, tech startup Nothing has launched the Community Edition Project, inviting people worldwide to contribute ideas for a special edition of their recently released Phone 2a. This initiative marks a significant step towards incorporating the community’s voice into the development of future products and potentially even operating systems.

Carl Pei, Nothing’s founder and CEO, emphasized the project’s potential as a gateway to “community-driven development.” The Phone 2a, launched earlier this month, has already begun receiving the Nothing OS 2.5.4 update, further enhancing the user experience.

Community Edition Project: How to Participate

The Community Edition Project allows participants to submit their designs, wallpaper concepts, and packaging ideas for a one-of-a-kind Phone 2a variant. The project unfolds over six months across four stages. Currently, hardware design ideas are being collected in March, followed by wallpapers and packaging submissions in May and June, respectively. The final stage in July will focus on marketing campaign concepts.

The company welcomes submissions in any format – images, videos, or other creative mediums – through a dedicated webpage for the Community Edition Project. Following each stage’s closure, a selection of ideas will be presented for an open vote. Ultimately, winners will be chosen by an internal panel at Nothing.
